AT&T on Wednesday released an update to its DirecTV Now app, bringing it to v1.1.8. Whether it corrects the ongoing and rampant problems users have reported with the service, we'll have to see; AT&T only declared 'performance enhancements and bug fixes' with the update.
DirecTV Now is AT&T's standalone streaming service for live TV and on-demand entertainment, including premium channels and some local stations (depending upon your area). Of course, what you get will depend upon how much you're willing to pay per month, but you can rest assured it'll be cheaper than a DirecTV satellite subscription (and with far fewer channels to block).

That's not preventing would be cord cutters from subscribing, however; AT&T announced during its fourth-quarter 2017 earnings conference call in late January that DirectNow has reached over 1.2 million subscribers.

Regarding the performance issues, DirectTV has not responded to multiple requests for comment by BESTAppleTV.com. Hopefully, the v1.1.8 update addresses the problems.
